Exotic Woods was opened for business in 1979 by John (sr.) and Tetje Hordyk, providing fine quality hardwoods, softwoods and veneers from around the world. In time, his two sons John (jr.) and Mel joined the business and John (sr.) expanded Exotic Woods’ warehouse to double its size. Exotic Woods has continued to grow over many years, and has expanded numerous times at their original location in Burlington. In 2009, Exotic Woods moved to a 20,000 square foot facility on Harvester Road, with expanded space for full machining facilities, warehousing and a larger showroom. With this space, Exotic Woods Inc. is sure to fill its
customers’ needs for years to come.

Author of, Made by Hand - Furniture Projects from the Unplugged Woodshop, Tom designs and builds custom furniture using 'only hand tools' in his shop in Toronto, Ontario. Originally from Cape Breton Island, Tom began his wood working journey building traditional style wooden boats in a one man shop on the coast. Between boat orders Tom moved onto furniture design and the rest as they say is history. Since that time Tom has written for Fine Woodworking Magazine, Popular Woodworking Magazine and Canadian Woodworking Magazine. Signed copies of Made by Hand will be available for purchase so be sure to stop by and say hello.

Konrad Sauer is the owner of Sauer and Steiner Toolworks. Working out of his custom shop in Kitchener Ontario, Konrad makes some of the finest infill planes ever made. He not only draws on the knowledge of the past, but he has used his skills to innovate and improve upon the designs. These planes are a melding of art and function. Sauer is in the enviable position of having a long waiting list for his hand made precision tools.

Medallion Toolworks is a small custom sawmaker located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. As a one person operation, my emphasis is on quality and craftsmanship over mass production. Unlike some productions saws on the market today, Ed focuses on combining the quality of modern materials with hand-craftsmanship over high volume. Every saw is individually made from the finest Swedish spring steel, quality brass and beautiful hardwoods.

A plane should come to hand and feel as if it belongs there. DL Barrett and Sons strives to make their planes as comfortable as possible, following the old tried and true methods of plane making.  Their bench plane bodies are constructed of one piece solid quartersawn beech.  Plough and fillester planes will be available in beech and selected exotic woods.  The renewed interest in using hand tools results in a demand for better quality tools. Having found a source for top quality quarter sawn beech and a blade maker capable of producing the highest quality custom made tapered blades, DL Barrett and Sons is now ready to offer for sale top quality planes and after market tapered irons.
