DMT uses monocrystalline diamonds, which are uniformly sized and permanently bonded to a nickel plate on a precision ground steel plate. Unlike lower quality polycrystalline diamonds, these diamonds are not fragmented, so they have superior strength and durability. Diamond stones cut fast. But additional honing on finer abrasives is required for the best edge. A combination of diamond stones for occasional heavy work and waterstones for fine finishes works well. Diamond stones are also great for flattening waterstones. Add diamond paste to your kit for the times when you need an edge finer than even the finest waterstones can produce. BENCH STONES Large 10" (25.40cm) x 4" (10.16cm) surface, precision flat two-grit diamond sharpeners are perfect for woodworkers who demand the ultimate in flatness. These double-sided stones come with a non-skid mat. Coarser grits are excellent for flattening waterstones. Color coded for each of the three stones: Black = extra coarse (60 micron); Blue = coarse (45 micron); Red = fine (25 micron) and Green = extra fine BENCH STONE BASE This black molded base provides 2" (5.08cm) of knuckle clearance for ease of use. For maximum versatility, the stand also features a handle on the underside for moving the stone over a large workpiece . DIA SHARP STONES Steel diamond plate 11½" (29.21cm) x 2½" (6.35cm) wide, with non-skid rubber feet. Flatness tolerance of .002" (.05mm). A very good value. DIA-SHARP MINI-HONE 2.5" (6.35cm) diamond hones with thin (.003" (.07mm)) tip for getting into hard-to-reach places. Great for sharpening, deburring and honing in tight spaces. DIA-PASTE DIAMOND COMPOUND Dia-Paste is great for getting a mirror finish on blades. A little goes a long way. MDF or a flat scrap of hardwood is an effective base for honing.
