Chain Drive Vise
One of the disadvantages of traditional shoulder vise hardware is that you cannot hold a board upright between the screws or guide rods, or only a very narrow board. This is why dovetailers like the Scandaniavian "L" type shoulder vise.
Our new chain drive vise hardware offers a better option. We have designed it around independent screw assemblies. On the benches we are building the standard installation has 12" between the vise screws. This makes dovetailing a breeze.
Larger or smaller spacings are possible by simply providing the correct chain length. Please indicate your desired chain length in the comment of your order. We offer the following options: chains and jaws for building vises with the following spacing between screws - 8, 12, 18 and 24".
Typical maximum opening is 8-1/4".
The screws are 1-1/8" x 5 tpi rolled thread acme rod.
The vise jaw is bushed with four bronze bushings, backed up with four needle bearing and washer assemblies (to reduce wear).

Vise Handle is sold separately. The screw with the handle 'T' can be mounted on either the left or right of the vise jaw.

CHAIN DRIVE VISE INSTALLATION KIT
To make your assembly easier, we offer an optional Vise Installation Kit, comprised of items you may not readily have on hand (especially the taps). The kit includes: 1 F drill, 1 5/16-18 tap, 2 allen wrenches (1/4" and 1/8") and 2 hex drivers (3/16", & 1/4") for a 3/8" socket wrench.
After your vise is installed, you may return the installation kit to us for credit.
