Large Tail Vise
We've built many workbenches and installed quite a few tail vises. We’ve learned a lot along the way, and our experience has led us to design a much improved tail vise, which we are now installing on the benches we build, as well as offering for sale on our website.
Machined from Cold Rolled Steel bar stock, this vise is rugged. Based on traditional European-style tail vises, the sliding mechanism is a three piece construction. Adjustable gib on the lower slide. The three parts of the slide are set into dados in the bench and movable jaw to control parallelism. 1-1/8" x 5 tpi rolled acme thread rod.
We recommend installing with 3/8" machine screws (provided), tapped into the wood.

TAIL VISE INSTALLATION KIT
To make your assembly easier, we offer an optional Tail Vise Installation Kit, comprised of items you may not readily have on hand (especially the taps). The kit includes: 2 drills (F and 5/16"), 1 tap (3/8-16), a transfer punch (3/8" diameter), 3 allen wrenches (7/32" 5/16", and 1/8") and 3 hex drivers (3/16", 7/32" and 5/16") for a 3/8" socket wrench.
After your vise is installed, you may return the kit to us for credit.
