Customer Service for Woodworking Tools
Do you like people? Are you interested in the craft of woodworking? In high quality tools made in the USA? In being part of an employee owned business with a world-class reputation?
About us:
At Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, we’ve been making heirloom quality, woodworking hand tools here in Warren, Maine, for over 45 years. As a result of our relentless dedication to quality, we are recognized as one of the premier hand tool makers in the world. Our tools are found in workshops on every continent across the globe (even Antarctica!).
Behind the scenes, we run a tight ship. We work hard every day making hundreds of tools a week and providing excellent support to our customers.
About the job:
We are seeking the right person to join our small customer service team. In this entry-level position, you will:
- Help customers via phone, email, and in person with their orders, returns, and repairs
- Navigate our computer system to process sale orders, manage customer accounts, check inventory, and handle other administrative functions
- Answer questions about our hand tools and woodworking
- Give demonstrations of tools and techniques for customers who visit our showroom
- Assist in tool production and assembly work as needed
- Potentially help with our social media and website
- Potentially participate in woodworking events that involve occasional weekend travel
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has an upbeat and positive attitude, cares about customer service, works well with others, and is interested in woodworking and craftsmanship. Other qualifications include:
- Dependable and reliable. You must be able and willing to show up every day, on time, and do good work.
- Good writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills. This is very important, since you’ll be responding to customer emails, phone calls, and in-person visits.
- Hands-on woodworking experience is a big plus. If you don’t have much experience, that’s ok, but you need to be interested and willing to learn.
- Able to work in a very fast paced, ever changing environment.
- Since the responsibilities of this position may sometimes overlap into other departments (like manufacturing), flexibility and adaptability are essential personality traits.
- Bonus skills: Experience with photography, videography, web design or graphic design is also a plus (but not required). A lot of us wear many hats and having these skills could open other opportunities here as well.
About our pay structure:
This entry-level position starts at $22 (or more, with applicable experience). After a 90-day trial period, we do a performance review and, if things are going well, a pay bump.
Starting pay is negotiable for more experienced applicants.
Job Type: Full time on site in Warren, Maine.
