Mission Community WoodshopSan Francisco, California
The Mission Community Woodshop was founded in 2024 by long-friends and teachers Andrew Salverda and Dan Matz. They are working to build a tight-knit and inclusive community of woodworkers in the San Francisco area. The bright, 5,250 square foot shop includes a large machine room, classroom, and bench spaces. Classes are offered on a sliding scale and in short or long format, with projects ranging from spoon carving to Shaker tables and more.
Russ Filbeck is a master chair maker, in addition to being an educator and writer. He offers classes on chair-making and has previously taught at Palomar. His book, "Making Ladder Back Chairs," is available through his website.
Frank Strazza builds heirloom quality furniture with traditional joinery in Central Texas, utilizing handtools for much of his work. He has won multiple awards, has participated in building furniture for the White House in Washington D.C., and teaches all over the country.
